Sua atua\u00e7\u00e3o inescrupulosa lhe permitiu acumular enorme fortuna pessoal e usou de muitos de seus bens para se eleger papa, comprando os competidores.<\/p>\n<p>Com grande quantidade de filhos ileg\u00edtimos com v\u00e1rias mulheres diferentes, usou e abusou do nepotismo. Sua habilidade diplom\u00e1tica foi ineg\u00e1vel e na luta entre ele, Carlos VIII, Lu\u00eds XII, seu filho C\u00e9sar e Fernando o Cat\u00f3lico, conseguiu a unifica\u00e7\u00e3o da pen\u00ednsula italiana.<\/p>\n<p>Com a bula Inter caetera (1493), base do Tratado de Tordesilhas, demarcou as fronteiras das terras de Portugal e da Espanha depois do descobrimento da Am\u00e9rica. Denunciado pelo frade Girolamo Savonarola como simon\u00edaco, her\u00e9tico e infiel, foi convocado a Roma, reverteu as den\u00fancias e cal\u00fanias e Savonarola foi julgado e condenado \u00e0 morte na fogueira (1498).<\/p>\n<p>S\u00e3o tamb\u00e9m seus feitos a consolida\u00e7\u00e3o da estrutura pol\u00edtica do pontificado, o incentivo a cria\u00e7\u00e3o art\u00edstica em uma das etapas mais importantes do Renascimento e, tamb\u00e9m, a censura \u00e0 imprensa pelas autoridades eclesi\u00e1sticas.
