Papa Martinho V (1368 – 1431)<\/h2>\nPapa da Igreja Cat\u00f3lica Romana (1417-1431) nascido em Genazzano, Roma, que eleito em 21 de novembro (1417) como sucessor de Greg\u00f3rio XII (1406-1415), exerceu uma a\u00e7\u00e3o en\u00e9rgica de saneamento moral, civil e administrativo e obrigou o uso do traje talar aos eclesi\u00e1sticos. Cardeal (1405), participou do Conc\u00edlio de Pisa e do de Constan\u00e7a, durante o qual foi eleito papa (1417), ap\u00f3s a ren\u00fancia de Greg\u00f3rio XII, pondo fim ao grande cisma do Ocidente. Em seguida passou a apoiar a tese da superioridade do papa sobre o conc\u00edlio, que antes negava e, com o fim do Conc\u00edlio de Constan\u00e7a (1418), deixou aquela cidade para dirigir-se a M\u00e2ntua e a Floren\u00e7a, fixando-se, por fim, em Roma (1420). Embora n\u00e3o fosse muito propenso \u00e0s mudan\u00e7as e reformas, foi bom administrador e contribuiu para a reconstru\u00e7\u00e3o e o embelezamento da cidade de Roma. Foi protetor das artes, quando come\u00e7ava o Renascimento, celebrou o 5\u00ba Ano Santo (1423) e, pela primeira vez, abriu-se a Porta Santa na Bas\u00edlica de S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o de Latr\u00e3o. Tamb\u00e9m foi durante seu pontificado que aconteceu a c\u00e9lebre aventura de Joana D’Arc. O papa de n\u00famero 207, faleceu em 20 de fevereiro (1431), em Per\u00fagia e foi sucedido por Eug\u00eanio IV (1431-1447). Durante quatro s\u00e9culos, depois do Grande Cisma do Ocidente, com a elei\u00e7\u00e3o de deste papa no Conc\u00edlio de Constan\u00e7a (1417), todos os conclaves foram realizados em Roma, com exce\u00e7\u00e3o de Pio VII. Os dois primeiros, ap\u00f3s o Cisma, foram realizados no convento dos Dominicanos, de Minerva.\nOBS: Lembrar que Martinho \u00e9 o nome de somente tr\u00eas papas cat\u00f3licos, apesar de a numera\u00e7\u00e3o ascender a cinco; n\u00e3o existiram papas antecessores com o nome de Martinho II ou III. Quando este papa ascendeu a trono papal e escolheu seu nome de sagra\u00e7\u00e3o, acreditava-se que j\u00e1 teria havido tr\u00eas papas com esse nome e foi proclamado como o de n\u00famero IV. Na realidade tratavam-se de papas com o nome de Marino ou Marinho. Assim a seq\u00fc\u00eancia de nomes foi a seguinte:\n\n– Papa Martinho I, papa de n\u00famero 74 (649-655), o S\u00e3o Martinho I;\n– Papa Marino I, papa de n\u00famero 109, o Marino I (882-884) e confundido erroneamente como Papa Martinho II;\n– Papa Marino II, papa de n\u00famero 129.(942-946), o Marino II (942-946) e confundido erroneamente como Papa Martinho III;\n– Papa Martinho IV, papa de n\u00famero 190 (1281-1285);\n– Papa Martinho V, papa de n\u00famero 207 (1417-1431).\n
