Adeodato [ou Deodato] \" width=\"199\" height=\"284\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<strong>Papa napolitano (615-618) da santa igreja apost\u00f3lica fundada por Jesus Cristo nascido em N\u00e1poles, chamado de Deusdedit que significa dado por Deus, criador do mais antigo selo pontifical conhecido:<\/strong> uma figura do Bom Pastor com suas ovelhas, com o Alfa e o \u00d4mega, s\u00edmbolo de Cristo, com o reverso onde se l\u00ea Deusdedit Papa.\n\nFilho de Estev\u00e3o, depois de ser padre por mais 40 anos em Roma, assumiu o pontificado em um per\u00edodo sazonalmente de paz e de tranq\u00fcilidade. Apoiado pelo piedoso Her\u00e1clito no Oriente, pela rainha Teodolinda na It\u00e1lia e pelo rei longobardo Adaoldado, dedicando-se a um cuidadoso nivelamento dos poderes do clero secular, com os dos monges.\n\nDurante um grande terremoto que abalou Roma (616), seguido de uma violenta epidemia, desenvolveu extraordin\u00e1ria caridade, a tal ponto que se criou uma tradi\u00e7\u00e3o de que curava os doentes beijando-lhes as chagas. Em seu testamento deixou uma heran\u00e7a para os cl\u00e9rigos, gesto que foi seguido por outros pont\u00edfices.\n\nApesar de apenas tr\u00eas anos de pontificado, foi tempo suficiente para passar sua imagem inesquec\u00edvel de bondade para as pessoas.
